With a book in my hand and music blasting through my earphones, I watch the rain fall drop by drop and I let my mind go blank.
We all have those moments when we just forget everything around us, when we just let things happen the way they’re supposed to happen. We look around and remain spectators to others living the moment. And then, something startling and shocking forces us to go back and become participants, once again, to the unfolding day.
A loud knock shattered the illusion. I was jolted back into the present. I marked my part in the book, closed it, and I resumed living my life.
